Deputy Director Gervaise Flynn retired from Waban Projects on January 6,2023 after serving at the agency for nearly 35 years.
Flynn has been in many roles at Waban Projects during her long tenure, running summer programming at the waterfront, securing fundraising dollars, acting as the agency’s residential director, and finally concluding her time as the nonprofit’s Deputy Director.
More than 70 guests RSVP’d to Flynn’s retirement party, held on January 5th at Waban Projects’ Wormwood Conference Center, representing community stakeholders, board members, and longtime co-workers.
Cynthia Caron, Waban Projects’ Director of Program Integrity & Policy Compliance, has worked with Flynn for more than three decades and said during her presentation: “It has been an honor to have worked with you and I will miss you. Be proud of your accomplishments and the positive difference you’ve made in the lives of so many.”
Executive Director Jennifer Putnam complimented Gervaise on her steadiness during the COVID-19 public health emergency and zeal for fundraising in her presentation. “Gervaise has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support and care for the children, adults and families who rely on us,” she said.
Flynn spearheaded the agency’s signature fundraiser – an annual Telefest, which provides funding for Waban’s Children Services programs, providing vision and marshalling community support. Flynn will continue at Waban on a consulting basis to help us launch the 2023 Telefest.
“We will miss your energy, your spirit and your smile,” Putnam said, adding: “We are so grateful for all you’ve done for so many people without a voice. Thank you from all of us. We wish you, simply, the best yet to come.”
