SANFORD, Maine – On June 6th, Waypoint Maine proudly hosted its annual Music Fest, at their historic waterfront on Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford. The event was a resounding success, raising over $64,700 to provide specialized programs and services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The celebration was made even more meaningful as Waypoint marked its 60th year of service to the community, honoring a legacy of community impact and continued commitment to those it serves.
The festivities began with a lively performance by local band Fugitive, followed by an incredible show by the iconic Motor Booty Affair. During the event, Waypoint officials presented two special honors: the “Making a Difference Award” and the “Power of Community Award.” Jill Lamontagne, a dedicated staff member, was recognized for her unwavering commitment to Waypoint’s mission. Kennebunk Savings received the Power of Community Award for their outstanding support and inspirational community leadership.
“It was wonderful to see the Sanford community come together to help support Waypoint,” said Jennifer Putnam, Waypoint’s Executive Director. “We heard from our volunteers, entertainers, and guests that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and, ultimately, our community made the Music Fest a resounding success!”
More than twenty businesses generously supported the event, including major sponsors Breezeline, Central Furniture, CGI, Kennebunk Savings, Partners Bank and Patco Construction. Numerous individuals and small businesses also contributed to the festival’s success.
As Waypoint celebrates 60 years of providing essential services and building inclusive communities, the success of its annual Music Fest reflects both the strength of its mission and the generosity of those who support it. With an eye toward the future, Waypoint looks forward to growing this event into a cherished tradition that continues to raise awareness, inspire community connection, and create opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive.
